About Me.
Sydney Johnson is a Documentary Filmmaker who just completed her Master of Fine Arts in Documentary Film and Master of Arts in Sports Media and Storytelling from Wake Forest University. She creates films about politics and sports, particularly women's sports, and ideally, when the two intersect. During her time as a filmmaker, she partnered with Flosports Racing to create a short documentary, The Madhouse, detailing the lead up to and first race of the season. Currently, streaming on FloSports Racing. She is experienced in traveling while filmmaking, trekking all over the United States from the East Coast to the Gulf Coast to the West Coast, and even internationally to Ireland and Australia for two separate projects. She has produced and directed various shorts featured in film festivals, such as the Carrboro Film Festival and Out at the Movies International Film Festival.
Prior to her time as a filmmaker, Sydney was a staffer on Capitol Hill for two years, where she realized there is a story around every corner. A Houston, Texas native, she is now based in New York City.
